Guillermo del Toro on Pacific Rim animated TV series
The Pacific Rim animated series is to be a prequel focusing on Jaeger pilots working in the Shatterdome, says del Toro...
In addition to Pacific Rim's 2017 movie sequel, Guillermo del Toro - a man who clearly laughs in the face of such luxuries as sleep or days off - is also developing an animated television series for his mechs-travanganza.
In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, del Toro updated fans on the progress of the sequel's "joyful giant spectacle", as well as providing a smattering of details about the TV series.
The animated show, a prequel to the first Pacific Rim, is set to tackle the stories of Jaeger pilots working in the Shatterdome, as well as the cadets who become pilots. "All of this happens prior to the first movie, and it gives you a little more depth into the background of certain characters that will appear in the second movie", said del Toro.
Where might fans be able to see the animated series? That's still up in the air, according to del Toro, who told the WSJ that his team is "talking about all the possibilities in terms of networks."
