Look who's coming to Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Spoilers ahead as it's announced a classic Marvel comics character is coming to ABC's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Warning: contains spoilers for Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.
We say 'coming to' Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. when in fact, he's been there right from the beginning. The news from Marvel is that J. August Richards' character, Mike Peterson, as met in the pilot episode, is to return as an incarnation of deadly cyborg Deathlok.
Of the many guesses we took at who Richards' character would turn out to be before S.H.I.E.L.D. began to air, Deathlok was not one of them. Not that you can blame us; experimental reanimated human with a symbiotic computer wasn't top of anybody's list.
The revelation will be staged when S.H.I.E.L.D. returns to ABC on the 4th of February (UK audiences are having to wait until March for the show's return to Channel 4). Here's what executive producer Jeffrey Bell had to say about the character news:
"We have been waiting all season for this moment where we can reveal that Mike Peterson's story arc is an origin story. We're thrilled to have J. August Richards playing Deathlok and to have our audience enjoy this favorite Marvel character on the show."
