Gotham, soon to air on Monday nights on Fox, has released a few new images from its forthcoming series...

Now confirmed to be airing on Monday nights at 8pm on Fox, just before Sleepy Hollow, is Gotham, the Batman prequel following the travails of a young Jim Gordon. In addition to Gordon and Bruce Wayne, the series will feature a line-up of Gotham's usual suspects in their salad days, from Catwoman to The Riddler to The Penguin to Poison Ivy (think of it like an evil Muppet Babies).

Ben McKenzie plays the pre-moustache Det. Jim Gordon, with Donal Logue as Det. Harvey Bullock, and Jada Pinkett-Smith as criminal leader Fish Mooney, all of whom you can see below in these latest official images from the show.

Here's Gotham's official synopsis:

"Before there was Batman, there was Gotham. Everyone knows the name Commissioner Gordon. He is one of the crime world's greatest foes, a man whose reputation is synonymous with law and order. But what is known of Gordon's story and his rise from rookie detective to Police Commissioner? What did it take to navigate the multiple layers of corruption that secretly ruled Gotham City, the spawning ground of the world's most iconic villains? And what circumstances created them -- the larger-than-life personas who would become Catwoman, The Penguin, The Riddler, Two-Face and The Joker? Gotham is an origin story of the great DC Comics super-Villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told."
