Spoilers: some familiar faces will not be back for Game Of Thrones season 5....

Spoilers lie ahead for Game Of Thrones season 5.

Fans of Game Of Thrones’ source material, the novel series A Song Of Ice And Fire, have long been warning telly-only fans that the next season of the show could be a little different. The next novel to be adapted, chronologically speaking, is A Feast For Crows, which has several major characters missing from the action. If you want to find out more, scroll past Daphne, our spoiler squirrel, and more will be revealed...

The first news we’ve received of absent character in the telly version appeared last night, with confirmation from the cast that Hodor and Bran Stark will not be appearing in the season.

"We have a season off and we have a year's hiatus, solely because I imagine our storyline is up to the end of the books," said Hodor actor Kristian Nairn.

We certainly haven’t seen the last of Nairn or Bran actor Isaac Hempstead-Wright thought, with season four finale director Alex Graves previously quoted as saying that "The Children of the Forest and the three-eyed raven are part of the deep history of the show that will actually come back as the show goes on."

We’ll pass on more cast inclusions or exclusions as we hear them. With material from A Dance With Dragons purportedly included too, it really is up to the scriptwriters to decide who makes the cut.

Game Of Thrones returns April 2015.
