Game Of Thrones season 5 to shoot in Spain
The Andulusian province of Seville will stand in for Dorne in Game Of Thrones' fifth season...
Stick another pin in Game Of Thrones' international map, because it's going to sunny Spain. As suspected here, the kingdom of Dorne, birthplace of Prince Oberyn Martell and of growing importance in season five, will be represented by the Andulusian province of Seville in Spain.
The region of Dorne is described as distinctly Iberian in George R.R. Martin's A Song Of Ice And Fire novels. It's a hot peninsula featuring deserts, mountains, a long coastline of beaches, and it's where all the good wine comes from in Westeros. (We've long suspected the royal Water Gardens, a key location in the Dornish capital of Sunspear, are essentially a Portaventura Water Park minus the giant inflatable tyres and lazy river...).
As a region, Dorne comes into its own in A Feast For Crows, from which season five will be adapted. It's where Princess Myrcella Baratheon/Lannister has been held as a ward for years, and it's home to the family of The Red Viper, including his fierce bastard daughters, The Sand Snakes.
