Neil Marshall back for Game Of Thrones season 4
The director of Blackwater, arguably Game Of Thrones' finest moment, is returning to direct another key battle in season four...
This is very good news.
Blackwater, the battle-heavy penultimate episode of Game of Thrones' second season, was a spectacular piece of work. When we polled our writers as to their favourite TV episode of 2012, it didn't just walk it to the number one spot, but moonwalked there flicking the Vs at Sherlock's The Reichenbach Fall, The Walking Dead's Killer Within, Breaking Bad's Say My Name, and many more as it went. That's how damned good an hour of television it was.
The director behind the camera for Blackwater was one Neil Marshall (Dog Soldiers, The Descent), and proof that Game of Thrones showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff know a good thing when they have it, is the fact Marshall will be returning to direct a key battle of season four, as reported by Empire magazine.
No spoilers here, but ASoIaF readers know which conflict we're talking about, and it promises to be every bit as exhilarating as Stannis' attempt to take King's Landing.
More news on Game of Thrones season four as we hear it.
