New Game Of Thrones season 3 teaser trailer
HBO has released a new teaser for Game Of Thrones' third season, featuring a familiar song...
This is a teaser trailer unlike many others, but then Game Of Thrones is a television programme unlike many others. Instead of clips from the third season, we're presented with a simple collision of two worlds: Bran's three-eyed raven swoops over contemporary urban landmarks accompanied by the legend: "Their world returns to ours".
The song playing as it does so? The Rains of Castermere performed by The National's Matt Berninger, as played over the end credits of season two's Blackwater, sung by the Lannister soldiers before the battle in that same episode, and, for those paying attention, whistled by Tyrion in A Man Without Honor.
Watch the teaser trailer and, just for a treat, take a look at the song's lyrics below:
And who are you, the proud lord said, that I must bow so low? Only a cat of a different coat, that's all the truth I know. In a coat of gold or a coat of red, a lion still has claws, and mine are long and sharp, my lord,as long and sharp as yours. And so he spoke, and so he spoke, that lord of Castamere,But now the rains weep o'er his hall, with no one there to hear. Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall, and not a soul to hear.
Game Of Thrones returns to HBO on the 31st of March, and to Sky Atlantic on the 1st of April.
