TNT's alien invasion drama is confirmed to be returning next summer with ten brand new episodes...

Currently mid-way through its third season in the US, Falling Skies has been steadily finding both its feet and the all-important balance between action and satisfying plots. Season three has so far delivered both, featuring several impressive action sequences alongside enjoyable character-driven intrigue.

The audience obviously agrees, as an average of 5.8 million tune in every week to watch Noah Wyle and co.'s attempts to resist alien invasion.

The introduction of geek favourite Doug Jones in a new alien role this season is also something of a coup for the show (come back next week to read our interview with Doug about the series and his work on films including Pan's Labyrinth and Hellboy).

Good news then, that Falling Skies is confirmed to have been renewed for a fourth run. Ten new episodes of the Steven Spielberg-produced sci-fi drama are on their way for summer 2014. Fingers crossed it just keeps on getting better and better.
