Synopsis lands for Into The Dalek, Peter Capaldi’s second full Doctor Who episode.

With Doctor Who series eight just over a week away, further details of the show's return continue to appear.

Today, we’ve caught wind of the synopsis for the series’ second episode Into The Dalek, which is set to reunite the Doctor with his classic enemies. Here’s the teasey summary:

“A Dalek fleet surrounds a lone rebel ship, and only the Doctor can help them now... with the Doctor facing his greatest enemy, he needs Clara by his side.

Confronted with a decision that could change the Daleks forever he is forced to examine his conscience. Will he find the answer to the question, am I a good man?”

On paper, that feels like a bit of a mix between series seven’s Cold War, which pitted the Doctor against another classic enemy in a close-quarters single ship scenario, and series four finale The Stolen Earth/Journey’s End which saw Davros and the Daleks questioning the Doctor’s morals, the death-toll in his wake and his questionable effect on people.

Sounds like a good combination to us, especially when you consider that horror specialist Ben Wheatley is directing, from a Phil Ford (The Waters Of Mars co-writer) script. Expect a slightly scarier tone than suggested by our choice of picture.

Doctor Who series eight kicks off with opener Deep Breath on August 23, with Into The Dalek following the week after on August 30.
