Hermione Norris joins Doctor Who series 8

Fresh details of a Doctor Who series 8 episode - which might just be harking back to a 1984 Peter Davison story...

The BBC has announced a new guest star for Doctor Who series 8, as Spooks, Cold Feet and The Crimson Field star Hermione Norris is set to appear in the show.

Norris will be appearing in the episode that's been written by Peter Harness. Steven Moffat has dropped some clues as the story as well. He said that "it's a testament to the quality of Peter Harness's intense and emotional script, that we've been able to attract an actress of the brilliance of Hermione Norris. And for the first time since 1984, the Doctor Who production team is heading to Lanzarote. The Doctor is returning to the scene of an old adventure - but there have been sinister changes since his last visit.".

The last time Doctor Who was in Lanzarote? That'd be the Peter Davison story Planet Of Fire, which introduced Peri to the show. Planet Of Fire also featured The Master, with much talk of the fire god Logar, and the world of Sarn. Feel free to speculate as to whether they'll feature (if indeed this does tie in to Planet Of Fire). Kamelion was in that one too, but we think his days on the show are long numbered.

This will only be awesome if she's reprising Ros from Spooks and goes around snarling and snarking.

It could be that the BBC have decided to copy marvel and do crossovers with their most popular series. I've always dreamed this would happen, so we can get Phil Mitchell vs The Daleks.

Great idea - Gregg Wallace versus the Krotons.

Graham Norton vs Sontarans :)

Bruce Forsyth vs the Weeping Angels- whom shall outlast whom? There'd keep sending him back in time only for him to waltz back after outliving his time-stream

Planet of Fire is one of my fav episodes. Pretty jammed packed with stuff going on. Peri arriving, making every 14 year old boy happy. Turlough leaving with great final words "take care of him, he gets into the most terrible trouble". Kamelion dying at his own request.

It was also meant to be the final episode with The Master in it. Hence his final words "Won't you show mercy to your own…."

Dimensions in Time 2

If you ever watch the original i think Phil is the only EastEnders character who appeared in it who is still in Eastenders.
