Steven Moffat on filming Matt Smith's final episode
At this week's TV Choice Awards, Steven Moffat shared his feelings about filming Matt Smith's final appearance as the Doctor...
Now that filming on Matt Smith's farewell episode - this year's Doctor Who Christmas special - is underway, the reality of what the show is losing has struck says Steven Moffat. Speaking at Monday night's TV Choice awards, Moffat admitted "It's hard to let go, watching him on set yesterday [Sunday] and he's so heartbreakingly good. You get all excited about the new doctor and then you go back and you see Matt on his first day back on set and you think 'oh my God that's what we're losing'."
Have any tears been shed on set yet? "It's fine. I mean it was an emotional start to the week, but he's actually been incredibly cheery. He's a fantastic leading man from that point of view. He bounds on set and gets everyone laughing and moving. He's so brilliant and he's at the height of his powers in the part, he's so funny, so clever, so inventive."
Before the Christmas special of course, comes The Day of the Doctor on Saturday the 23rd of November. Read more about the BBC's 50th anniversary Who celebrations, here.
