Doctor Who: Rory Kinnear quashes 12th Doctor rumours

Skyfall actor Rory Kinnear has categorically denied the rumour he was offered the part of the Twelfth Doctor...

When you're wrong, you say you're wrong. It appears it's not only the dad in Dirty Dancing who lives by that creed, but also The Telegraph newspaper. Towards the beginning of June, said paper reported with some certainty that Skyfall and Southcliffe actor Rory Kinnear had been offered the role of the Twelfth Doctor. Yesterday, they ran the following quote from Kinnear:

"I can tell you it's all bull****. It feels like my name has been randomly chosen to satisy the public appetite. I can firmly deny that I am the next Doctor Who. I don't know what the motive was - to be honest I can't even be bothered to think about it. Having said that, the rumour doesn't do any harm."

That puts paid to that one.

Though people in the know suggest the role has already been cast, Steven Moffat speaking to EW this week maintained that the "terrifying" search for number Twelve was ongoing, and that the public announcement would come in a matter of days after the casting had been finalised. He has too much work to do for M anyway ...

Do I have to say it....

Has anyone actually asked Andrew Scott the question? Is that within your power den of geek?

You mean - the first question?

Mr Moffat used the word "terrifying" before. To describe a character in the other show he's known for. A clue perhaps?

It must never be asked.

No you don't because they've already picked Brian Blessed :)

Why ask Andrew Scott when you could ask Fiona O'Shaughnessey?

Must be, "terrifying" can only point to the obvious... Tim Curry :-)

We need an older Doctor, who's also Welsh: John Rhys-Davies.

Ben Daniels? Sam Nicholls? Jamie Bamber?

Sadly no, as he's not doing too well at the moment.

More likely than not, the next doctor is going to be played by some actor that we will never have heard of besides a few small roles, whether they are boy or girl, and then they will become the most famous actors in Britain until they leave three years later.
