Skyfall actor Rory Kinnear has categorically denied the rumour he was offered the part of the Twelfth Doctor...

When you're wrong, you say you're wrong. It appears it's not only the dad in Dirty Dancing who lives by that creed, but also The Telegraph newspaper. Towards the beginning of June, said paper reported with some certainty that Skyfall and Southcliffe actor Rory Kinnear had been offered the role of the Twelfth Doctor. Yesterday, they ran the following quote from Kinnear:

"I can tell you it's all bull****. It feels like my name has been randomly chosen to satisy the public appetite. I can firmly deny that I am the next Doctor Who. I don't know what the motive was - to be honest I can't even be bothered to think about it. Having said that, the rumour doesn't do any harm."

That puts paid to that one.

Though people in the know suggest the role has already been cast, Steven Moffat speaking to EW this week maintained that the "terrifying" search for number Twelve was ongoing, and that the public announcement would come in a matter of days after the casting had been finalised.
