New set pictures from Doctor Who series 7
It was only confirmed yesterday, but already the first on-set pictures of Dame Diana Rigg and daughter Rachael Stirling filming their Doctor Who series 7 episode have arrived online...
Warning: this story contains potential spoilers.
No sooner had we heard the news of Diana Rigg and daughter Rachael Stirling's forthcoming appearance in the new series of Doctor Who than photographic evidence appears. Filming for the Mark Gatiss-scripted episode is currently taking place in Rhymney, Wales, and below are the first on-set shots of Matt Smith, Jenna-Louise Coleman, Rigg, Catrin Stewart and sometime Downton Abbey actor Brendan Patricks at work.
It looks as if a Victorian-set episode (assuming the plastic granny bonnets are there to keep the rain off between takes and aren't an era-blending fashion item from a Victoriana-loving alien race), a Dame, a pocket watch, and a bowler hat are all in store for series 7, then. That all makes the rumour that this is the episode to feature the return of Madame Vastra seem quite plausible, doesn't it?

dat hat!
I'm gonna bet that it will involve an origin story for Jenny and Madame Vastra (or at least Jenny). It would be such a Moffat thing to do a quasi-superhero origin story after we've been introduced to the ass-kicking characters they will become.
As did her former partner! Coincidence, I think not!
Really looking forward to this one. Matt in the bowler looks like he did in Ruby In The Smoke. Andy Pryor, Doctor Who's casting director was talking to DWM in May about a major star he hoped to cast in the Mark Gatiss episode. Guess that will be Dame Diana then!
RIP Eric Sykes.
Last time the Doctor wore a bowler was in Horror of Fang Rock. Even seen doing so in the illo on the cover of the Target novelization. Matt is yet to wear the stove pipe hat favoured by Troughton...;o)
Cool - this was filmed in Bute Town Rhymney (NOT the Cardiff Butetown!) about a mile from my house.... had to shut the entire hamlet down for the day....
He has a hat. Here we go...
The doctor in that suit and hat! He looks brilliant, can't wait for the series to air!
I can put up with Bow-ties, Stetsons and Fez's but I draw the line at Bowler Hats!
Used to love Diana Rigg in Avengers.
A lot of interest in the hat then.
