Steven Moffat drops new hints about Doctor Who Christmas Special
Steven Moffat drops a hint or two about the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas Special. The kind of hint you might want to steer clear of if you want to see the episode cold…
Shooting is long completed on the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas Special, which, as usual, will be going out on 25th December. It seems weird that it's not even a year since we had the beginning of David Tennant's final two-parter going out at Christmas, yet post-production work continues on Matt Smith's first Yuletide special as the Doctor.
And some hints about what to expect have turned up in the copy of The Brilliant Book Of Doctor Who 2011, which arrived at Geek Towers the other day. For hidden within the pages of said book is a new interview with Steven Moffat, where he's been chatting about the Christmas episode.
Final warning, then: if you don't want even the merest hint of a spoiler, then you need to be heading elsewhere.
Still here? Then here's what Mr Moffat had to say:
"This one's incredibly Christmassy. That's true of the previous ones but I wanted to go for broke. It's easily the most Christmassy thing you'll ever see. It's a huge, sentimental, lovely, jeopardy-driven story. It's the Christmas special I'd like to see. It's like a compilation of every Christmas movie. A big Christmas treat. But that doesn't mean it's without scares, and that doesn't mean it's without heartbreak. It has genuine tragedy in it."
Make of that what you will. And we'll have more news on the Christmas Special as we get it...
