David Tennant as Doctor Who

UNIT are on scene, but no sign of the Brig, and who is the ‘really famous name’ joining the cast?

Filming on the first of this year's Doctor Who specials began earlier this week and reports suggest a number of interesting casting additions.

Spotted on set last night was Adam James, a British actor who has starred alongside David Tennant in the Extras Christmas Special and could also be seen dancing with him (and John Simm) during Jools Holland's Hootenanny 2007/8. James has also recently appeared in Jonathan Creek and Hustle whilst also popping in Secret Diary Of A Call Girl with Billie Piper.

Reports from the set also suggest that actress Noma Dumezweni is reprising her role as Capt. Magambo from last year's Turn Left. UNIT appear to have a large presence in the upcoming story, Planet Of the Dead. Unconfirmed reports also state that Michele Ryan was spotted at a shoot in a Cardiff Museum.

Lastly, DJ Christian O' Connell reported that a "really famous name" has joined the cast of Doctor Who. On his Absolute Radio show he stated that he met David Tennant at the Radio Times covers party (which took place the previous night) when this actor "bounded up" to the pair of them. Sadly, O' Connell would not reveal this name...

...but David Walliams, Stephen Fry and Kiefer Sutherland were among the guests at the bash.
