With David Tennant quitting Doctor Who, it hasn't taken long for speculation about his successor to begin...

Less than 12 hours after David Tennant announced that he was stepping down as Doctor Who, and already the bookies having started to put up prices on who is going to be the next iteration of the world famous Time Lord.

According to Paddy Power, the running favourite is currently Patterson Joseph, whose agent put down the earlier rumours to us of his being linked with the part. David Morrisey, shortly to appear in the Christmas special, is currently running as second favourite, with James Nesbitt, John Simm and Russell Tovey following in quick order. At the other end of the scale, the long bets are Christopher Eccleston at 40/1, Hugh Grant (again!) at 100/1 and Robbie Williams at 150-1.
