Vincent D'Onofrio cast as Kingpin in Daredevil series

Joining Charlie Cox in Netflix's Daredevil series will be Law & Order's Vincent D'Onofrio in the role of villain Kingpin...

Despite some kerfuffle behind the scenes when Drew Goddard departed to pursue his Spider-Man Sinister Six interests, Netflix's Daredevil series isn't shaping up half bad, on the casting front at least. First of all Boardwalk Empire's Charlie Cox was picked to don the red suit, and now Law & Order: Criminal Intent's Vincent D'Onofrio will be wearing the massive white one in the role of cigar-chomping magnate villain, Kingpin.

Full Metal Jacket's D'Onofrio will be playing Wilson Fisk, the super-sized businessman who comes into conflict with blind lawyer Matt Murdock and his Daredevil alterego in New York's Hell's Kitchen.

The plan for the Netflix original series is for a thirteen-episode standalone Daredevil story, which will lead to similar for other Marvel heroes Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. About to begin production this summer (using Drew Goddard's scripts intact for the first two episodes, according to reports), Daredevil is due to arrive on Netflix in 2015.

all im gonna say is inspired!

Great choice. D'Onofrio is fantastic! Lovely to have some good Marvel news at the mo!

…and now I’m officially invested. D'Onofrio is a supremely excellent talent and one of those rare actors that no matter the project I’m sure to check it out if he’s involved.

Uh, you want me to put my hands on the back of my head, like this? (Skin rips off, and bald, white suited Kingpin D'onofrio emerges)

Had liked a picture of D'Onofrio with this article, but a quick search tells me he looks te part. He is also playing someone called Morton in Jurassic World next year.

First Charlie cox as DD, then Brolin as Thanos, now this! Marvel's on a roll, son!

Never thought I'd say this, but Vinny needs to put on some more weight for this role...
