The Dawson’s Creek star will play an FBI agent in the new CSI: Cyber series…

Fans of Dawson’s Creek rejoice, James Van Der Beek (who played the eponymous Dawson) has nabbed another leading role.

The impressively jaw-lined actor will play FBI agent Elijah Munco, described as “an expert in battlefield forensics” and “a self-proclaimed action junky,” in CBS’ new CSI spin-off CSI: Cyber.

Van Der Beek has mainly appeared in comedies in the last few years, with Don’t Trust The B---- in Apartment 23 and Friend With Better Lives among his recent credits. Seeing how he handles a straight-faced role, with a few comic moments - we assume, could make for some attention-grabbing viewing.

The show will focus mainly on Special Agent Avery Ryan (Patricia Arquette), head of the Cyber Crime Division of the FBI, but we’d wager we’ll be seeing a whole lot of Van Der Beek too. Who else reckons they'll have some frosty exchanges, then a budding friendship, then a forbidden romance? Just a guess.
