Breaking Bad to be remade for Latin America
Get ready to meet Walter Blanco as Breaking Bad is getting a Spanish-language remake...
If you're already missing Breaking Bad and want to take the whole crazy trip again, you just might be in luck. Provided you speak Spanish.
Sony Pictures Television, the producers of Vince Gilligan's dearly departed drama has announced a remake for Latin American TV. Metastasis, which will be made in Colombia, will tell the story of put-upon chemistry teacher, Walter Blanco (Diego Trujillo) who partners up with former pupil Jose to manufacture drugs without the knowledge of his wife Cielo and brother-in-law Henry Navarro, who just happens to be a narcotics agent.
Gilligan has been consulted about the project, but the show, which will be co-produced by Colombian company Teleset, will take a slightly different tone. Hoping to enter the market dominated by hugely popular telenovelas, Metastasis will be more mainstream than its parent show.
Expectations are high (sorry) and Sony has already sold the show throughout Latin America.
