A fascinating window into the Breaking Bad season 4 writers' room has opened up online, thanks to Uproxx and Brett Martin...

Warning: pictures contain plot details for Breaking Bad season 4.

Conducting research for Difficult Men: Behind the Scenes of a Creative Revolution, Brett Martin's portrait of the showrunners behind some of contemporary television's most lauded achievements (Mad MenThe Sopranos, NYPD BlueDeadwood...), Martin was given access to a hallowed place: the Breaking Bad writers' room.

The pictures, some of which you can see below, not only revealed the working process behind season four, but unused storylines, reference materials, and probably the best plasticine sculpture of Danny Trejo's decapitated head atop a tortoise you'll see today...

Cards on a corkboard detail season four's key plot details.

The completed corkboard for the season four premiere.

And a redacted picture of the end of season four corkboard. Boom indeed.

Reference library for the series.

And finally, the aforementioned plasticine masterpiece. Note the quiet dignity in Trejo's expression. Beautiful.
