Nicolas Winding Refn's in-development Barbarella series adds Bond writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade...

In addition to his Logan's Run remake, Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn has been motoring through another classic sci-fi revival project, a TV adaptation of Roger Vadim's sixties camp-fest Barbarella.

Originally based on the graphic novel series by Jean-Claude Forest, Vadim's film starred Jane Fonda as the pneumatic lead, a "space-age adventuress" who, between "sex-ploits", is tasked with stopping evil weapons inventor Durand Durand.

Winding Refn first announced his Barbarella plans last summer, and now has enlisted the writing talents of regular Bond scribes Neal Purvis and Robert Wade (Casino RoyaleSkyfall) to work on the script.

To get us started, let's remind ourselves of one of the film's original taglines: Who seduces an angel? Who strips in space? Who conveys love by hand? Who gives up the pill? Who takes sex to outer space? Who's the girl of the 21st century? Who nearly dies of pleasure?

Who indeed...
