Brandon Routh joins Arrow season 3

The Superman Returns actor has joined Arrow's third season in the role of physicist Ray Palmer...

A physicist with the ability to shrink to subatomic size and an "atomic punch"? That could certainly prove useful in Oliver Queen's battle against the villains and ne'er-do-wells of Starling City. Lucky for Queen then, that Arrow's makers have cast an actor in the role of Atom for the show's forthcoming third season.

Chuck's Brandon Routh - he who sported the red cape and cowlick in 2006 film Superman Returns - will be playing physicist Ray Palmer in Arrow season three, the character later to become superhero Atom.

Described in the official bumf as "an unparalleled scientist and inventor", Routh's character is expected to "play an unexpected role in the lives of Oliver and Felicity as the new owner of Queen Consolidated", whose plans for the company's Applied Sciences Division "will be shrouded in mystery". We're betting there's going to be a heavy investment in belt-related research for a start...

ooo...The Atom.

I gave up on Arrow but it seems I may have jumped the gun. Maybe i'll get back to it one day. Yay for Brandon Routh though, I love his Superman / Clark Kent, shame so few other people did :(

"Up and Atom!"
"Up and At-Them"
"Up and ATOM!"

You beat me to it! I was totally going to say "his catch phrase better be 'up and atom!'" lol. But, good news. I will look forward to this. I hope he gets more screen time than Summer Glau did. She was short-changed last season.

The first series was pretty bad till the last few episodes, the 2nd series was awesome! really worth watching.

Really enjoyed both seasons, but agree the 2nd was so much better than the first!
