Stephen Amell on Justice League/Arrow crossover rumours

Arrow's Stephen Amell has clarified the rumours of a Justice League film appearance for the character...

This all started with a Fandango interview in which Arrow's Stephen Amell admitted having "had discussions" about his character, Oliver Queen, appearing in the forthcoming Justice League movie.

Despite Amell's circumspection after his original comment, adding "the gestation process for this project is a lot slower than most people think. I mean, they haven't even shot the next one. They haven't even shot a frame of the movie before the movie everyone thinks is the Justice League movie!", the internet got a bit carried away with itself (we know, that just never happens) and his comments were seized upon by those thirsty for news of the 2017 feature.

Amell has clarified now that those discussions weren't at "studio level", posting on Facebook, "At no point have I had studio level discussions about any feature films at Warner Bros."

Presumably, the initial discussions Amell mentioned were much like the ones we at Den of Geek Towers regularly have about appearing in the Justice League film: quietly, in the stationery cupboard, with our Captain Marvel figurine.

I don't think Arrow's Ollie would work in a Justice League movie, given that he's already more Bruce-Lite in Arrow than having much resemblance to the Oliver Queen from the DCU (well, the pre-Nu 52 DCU at least). Ollie should be a counterpoint to Bruce, not simply a slightly watered down version of him.

On the other hand, they've already turned Clark into an equally grim-dark brooding broodster so I guess it would fit Nolan and Goyer's model. Just add a gritty, dark Plastic Man and job done.

Just you wait, at this rate we'll have a Justice League composed of Batman, Super-Batman, Batman Woman, Fast Batman, Space Cop Batman and Water Batman. Archer Batman wouldn't stand out too much.
