American Horror Story: Freak Show, the fourth season of the anthology horror series, will be coming our way this October...

Last week saw the confirmation of rumours that American Horror Story's fourth season was to take place in a carnival setting, and now comes the word from on high. Co-creator Ryan Murphy has announced via Twitter that American Horror Story: Freak Show will be the official title of season four.

More details on the new run of the anthology horror series have arrived via EW, including the news that the season will be set in Jupiter, Florida in 1950. Jessica Lange, whose final season on the show this is to be, plays a German ex-pat managing one of the US's last 'freak shows', a business under threat and desperate to survive in post-WWII USA.

Amongst Lange's character's exhibits will be Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett and Frances Conroy, all playing performers in the Jupiter show. Further casting returns and newcomers are yet to be announced.

Prosthetic make-up specialists rejoice. Actually, this does sound like a good premise but they've relied on creepy buildings quite a lot in previous seasons, it'll be interesting to see how they do without that with a freak show.

Any one else thinking Carnivale?

It will be very tents I expect
