Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s second season has a teasing description…

As we mentioned when the trailer for Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. season two dropped earlier this week, series one of the show went from strength to strength in its last few episodes. That’s why we’re rather exciting to hear some more information on the show’s return in the form of a lengthy season synopsis. Here’s a few highlights…

Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns for a dynamic, action-packed second season,” reads the summary, “with newly appointed Director Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) - now the keeper of the secrets -- charged with rebuilding and restoring government and public trust in S.H.I.E.L.D. in the wake of the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier."

Later on, after a summary of the previous season, the synopsis brings us up to speed on the May/Coulson dynamic: “Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen), expert pilot, martial artist and longtime friend, will continue to look after Coulson in the wake of the mysterious etchings he's been carving into walls. What do these etchings mean, and can Coulson be trusted?”

We’re also told that we haven’t seen the end of HYDRA or Grant Ward, with another tease hinting at revelations around Skye’s parentage: “Skye (Chloe Bennet), now a full-fledged S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, discovered her origins as an 0-8-4 -- an object of unknown origin - and that her parents were considered "monsters." Could Skye have darkness lying dormant inside of her?”

“Also joining Coulson's core team is Lance Hunter (Nick Blood), a dashing mercenary sharp shooter with a quick wit,” we’re told. “Since he didn't rise up through the ranks, does he have an ulterior motive for helping out the team?” It all sounds very secrets-based again, which is to-be-expected in a spy show.

The final line of the synopsis rounds thing off by asking “who can Coulson trust?” Good question. We look forward to finding out.
