New Game of Thrones season 3 characters revealed

Game of Thrones’ executive producers have released a list of new faces we can expect to pop up in season three…

Not only are we getting an extra ten minutes in Sunday's season two finale, but showrunners David Benioff and D.B Weiss have kindly supplied us with a list of new characters we can expect to welcome for Game of Thrones' third series.

Season three is to be adapted from part or all of George R.R. Martin’s A Storm of Swords, though readers of the Song of Ice and Fire books will notice that some on the list below make their first appearance in the second novel, A Clash of Kings. The following new names have been confirmed to be on their way in season three:

– Mance Rayder: We’ve heard about him all season. A former member of the Night’s Watch who became the “King Beyond the Wall,” the leader of the Wildlings.

– Daario Naharis: A confident and seductive warrior.

– Jojen Reed; Meera Reed: A teenage brother and sister duo with special insights.

– Edmure Tully: A brash young member of the Tully family.

– Ser Brynden Tully (The Blackfish): Catelyn’s uncle.

– Lady Selyse Florent: Stannis Baratheon’s wife.

– Shireen: Stannis’ daughter.

– Olenna Redwyne (The Queen of Thorns): Margaery Tyrell’s sharp-witted grandmother.

– Beric Dondarrion: A skilled knight who is the leader of the outlaw group Brotherhood Without Banners.

– Thoros of Myr: A red priest who follows the same religion as Melisandre.

– Tormund Giantsbane: A Wildling raider.

It’s not an exhaustive list, according to Benioff and Weiss, as that would spoil some of the fun, but it does give us plenty to be going on with. Casting hopes, anyone?

Beric Dondarrion was in Series 1, ned Stark gave him the task of hunting down the Mountain that Rides.

Maggie Smith for the Queen of Thorns. OH COME ON, it would be awesome!

He's done a terrible job so far.

That would be delightful! Miriam Margoyles would also suit (and would probably be a bit cheaper for HBO)

Unless I'm provided with Strong Belwas (or at the very least a Strong Belwas spinoff where he travels the world, stabbing people and crapping on doorsteps), I'm going to go to HBOs offices, take out a security guard, then take a massive dump on the floor of their lobby.

Either of those two would be awesome choices for me but if they decided to go for an American and could throw some cash at it then Susan Sarandon would also be cool.

Good choice - or maybe Kathy Bates?

Maggie Smith would be great in any part!

Dani should be meeting him after she goes to the House of the Undying by my reckoning. Not til next season I guess. Unless they've shunted him back in the story like the did with the Reeds for no apparent reason.

Thoros of Myr - Brian Blessed?

Glad to see Meera and Jojen on here. I was disappointed they didn't make it into season 2. I really really hope they end up splitting Storm of Swords into two seasons. There is just way too much good material in there that would get cut out if it's limited to just the standard 10 episodes.

Ramsay Bolton?????

fingers crossed for Euron 'Crow's Eye' Greyjoy and Victarian 'I'm a badass, come and kill me' Greyjoy

Ramsay doesn't actually reappear until book 5, no?
His work's all been done off-screen for the time being.

Gah, I just realised that's kinda spoiler-y and can't delete my own comment.
Spoiler alert!

I love Susan's work, but I don't think she is old enough to be the grandma of loras and marg, she would look more like their mother imo

But the show tends to show things that happened off-screen in the books on-screen in the series, like Robb's relationship with Talisa, so he might appear

why cast loads of boring minor characters and not strong belwas? Should've popped u last season but nooo. he's too amazing :'(

also, casting someone reasonable attractive as stannis baratheons' supposedly mustachioed wife?

he might also make and excellent strong belwas
