Matt Smith to appear in The Sarah Jane Adventures

The BBC has released the formal press announcement of the upcoming series of The Sarah Jane Adventures, which will be starting in the autumn. Once again starring Elisabeth Sladen in the title role, she's once again going to be joined by the incumbent Doctor Who, as Matt Smith will be appearing in a special two-part episode.

And that two-parter sounds like a treat. Not only will it see Smith and Sladen working side by side, but they'll also be joined by another of the Doctor's old companions, Jo Grant, played by Katy Manning. The two-part special is being penned by Russell T Davies, too.

Other guest stars include Laila Rouass (Primeval) and Cheryl Campbell (Pennies From Heaven).

On the writing team this time is Phil Ford, who co-produces, Joseph Lidster, Rupert Laight, Gareth Roberts and Clayton Hickman.
