A few spoilers lie ahead for the upcoming 2008 Christmas special of Doctor Who...

Confirming what was speculated, particularly following the excerpts from Russell T Davies new The Writer’s Tale book (which we're in the process of reviewing) that have been doing the rounds, the Christmas episode of Doctor Who has been titled The Next Doctor.
If you don’t want any spoilers, don’t read any further.

Right-o. The story is believed to centre around a future version of the Doctor, who is being played by David Morrissey. He is also believed to be married to River Song, which would explain much of the interplay between the Doctor and River Song in Silence In The Library/Forest Of The Dead earlier this year.
The episode will, as has already been revealed, involve the Cybermen, and will be broadcast in the usual Christmas Day slot.
Filming then ramps up in the New Year on the four specials that we can expect to see on our screens in 2009, with the first expected to appear at Easter.
