The Prisoner: Be prepared, citizen

Shooting begins in Namibia soon on AMC/ITV's remake of the cult sixties series, and the checklist indicates the action won't all be psychological...

Things are warming up on the set of new Anglo-American incarnation of Patrick McGoohan’s classic sixties fantasy show, The Prisoner. Set to begin shooting this week in Namibia, of all places, snippets of what we can expect are starting to sneak out via the highly orchestrated blog of TV company AMC, who are producing the show alongside our very own ITV.

Set to star Jesus Christ himself, a.k.a Jim Caviezel as Number 6, with Sir Ian McKellen turning nemesis again in the role of Number 2, the concept of a former spy being held against his will in a disguised prison known as The Village has been scripted as a six-hour mini-series by Roy Gallagher, currently basking in the prime-time glow of his success with Lark Rise To Candleford… riiiiight.

One interesting snippet to come from the blog, is a list of potential dangers that Caviezal will face on set during the shooting; including (but not limited to) compressed gas, cryogenics, confined spaces, explosives, diving, flying (aircraft/balloons/parachutes) and lasers… Phew. No mention, sadly, of large plastic bubbles chasing him down a beach – but surely they couldn’t leave them out, surely?

To check out the list in full here. Be seeing you!
