Doctor Who series four news: The Moffat Story!

New guest stars confirmed! Details of the Steven Moffat story! News of the first episode of the new series! It's time for a Doctor Who update...

Steven Moffat is a highly liked person around these parts. The four episodes he’s contributed to the new Doctor Who have been our favourites – Blink in particular – have been among the highest of the highlights of the show, and so when it was revealed last year that he’d be writing a two parter for the fourth season of the show, we were very happy people indeed.

The BBC has now released some information on his two parter, namely its location and its guest stars. The story – for which we don’t have a name yet so will stick with The Moffat Story – is going to be set in an abandoned library. And what’s more, they’re roped in Alex Kingston and Colin Salmon to guest star.

Kingston will be playing River Song in the episode, “a mysterious character”, and she’s best known for appearing in Moll Flanders and ER. Colin Salmon, meanwhile, has popped up in plenty of James Bond films, although his role in the episode is thus far entirely unclear.

It’s also been revealed that the first episode of the new series, where the Doctor gets reunited with Donna, takes place in London in the modern day. It’s, naturally, a modern day alien emergency. Hurray!

The series is expected to start airing at the end of March/early April.
