What's happening with 24 season seven?
Simon Brew
It's January - 24 must be due to start! Only, it seems, the Writers' Strike and Kiefer Sutherland's jail time may have put pay to that...

So what’s the score? Well, apparently, before the Writers’ Strike started, and before Kiefer went off to prison, eight episodes of the show’s seventh season had been filmed. Given that production has been shut down for a couple of months now, there’s seemingly little chance of getting things moving quickly enough to sort out the remaining sixteen episodes – in whatever state they’re currently in – in the next three months, and so you have to conclude that the further adventures of Jack Bauer will be missing from our screens for a while.
Speculation has begin that we may see Fox opting to show the eight episodes it current;y has, and showing the back end of the season later in the year, assuming the strike finally gets resolved. That said, it’s the week-in, week-out format of 24 that’s been part and parcel of its appeal, and a move down Lost avenue isn’t likely to be an improvement.
An announcement one way or the other is expected shortly. Our suspicion is that 24 may yet be rested for a complete year, or as near as dammit. It should, to be fair, give us space to get over the shambles that was season six…

Fox knows how important the time gimmick is to the show, and I don't see them doing a split season of it. Fox generally doesn't do that sort of thing anyway, as they depend a lot on momentum.
