This weekend's TV: Marc Wootton Exposed & Primeval

A quick look ahead at two shows going out over the weekend: Marc Wootton Exposed and Primeval.

Published on Jan 11, 2008

Let's start with a heads up for a new show that goes out on BBC Three on Sunday night. It’s called Marc Wootton Exposed, and features, er, Marc Wootton (My New Best Friend, Shirley Ghostman) in a variety of different roles. Billed as a “character comedy”, the programme promises surreal humour, darkly delusional characters and some quite bizarre looking situations. It runs for six episodes, each lasting half an hour.

We’re looking forward to seeing the show, which has Jeremy Dyson as Script Editor (The League of Gentlemen) and Gareth (The Smoking Room) Garrivick behind the camera. Wootton co-wrote the show with Liam Woodman.

Also this weekend, ITV’s ropey-but-reasonably-loveable Primeval heaves back onto our screens, although you may have noticed a heavy ad campaign telling you so. Blatantly an attempt to cash-in on the BBC’s success with Saturday night sci-fi, it’s never going to win any award of merit, but for cheesy Saturday night fun? It might just be worth a go…

I haven't seen any ads for Primeval. Are they on ITV or something? I did see a lot of ads for that Echo Beach thing that I was quite excited about in a post-Night and Day way, but then I was ill and asleep during the whole programme. Now the whole world seems to be in agreement that the programme was a bit 'meh', I'm planning on giving the whole affair a wide berth.

Billboard ads for it; sorry, that was me being clear as mud again. Curse my manflu.
