Willy Fogg & Ulysses 31: The Theme Tune Sing-a-longs
Simon Brew
Two of the most catchy theme tunes of all time - Ulysses 31 and Around The World With Willy Fogg - replete with childrens' TV presenters singing along?!
Published on Oct 23, 2007
Yesterday, we reported how the end of The Mysterious Cities Of Gold on Children’s BBC in the 80s was marked by Phillip Schofield yacking along to the theme tune. Don’t believe us? The article’s here.
We also noted that it was a bit of a tradition that such tunes were sung along with at the end of the series, and to prove it, we’re once again indebted to the wonders of YouTube.
So first up, here’s Andy Crane (remember him?). He declared National Willy Fogg day, invited people to write to him to get the lyrics, all to have this big sing-song when the show came to an end. Clear your throats, and you'll need to click here to get it.
And then there’s the stunning audio majesty of the Ulysses 31 theme tune. It’s Schofield and Gordon the Gopher on duty here, although they’ve copped out a bit by miming along. Still, it’s all good….
Cities of Gold still rules them all, of course, but how about that for some good old-fashioned nostalgia? It warms them cockles right up…
We also, we should note, tracked back the uploader of those YouTube clips, and it turns out they have a blinding site chock-full of Broom Cupboard nostalgia! You can see it here, and we highly recommend you take a look.
