Life on Mars US trailer
The US version of Life on Mars has been given the green light for a full series - and we've got the trailer. Watch it and weep...
The US version of Life on Mars has been picked up by the ABC network and will be one of the key shows in its autumn schedule. The series features Irish unknown Jason O'Mara in the John Simm role and Colm Meaney as the unreconstructed '70s detective Gene Hunt.
The news coincides with the release of a new trailer which has one of the corniest voiceovers in recent memory: "In a world turned upside down... Sam Tyler is still a cop". The trailer leaves us with mixed feelings - the principals seem OK but the tone skirts a bit close to sitcom for our tastes. Anyway check it out for yourselves and lets hope they don't f*** it up too royally.

Re: Life on Mars US trailerQuick note - I've been informed by someone in the know that while it's been picked up for a series, they're completely ditching the pilot, and bringing in entirely new writers. And they haven't even started writing the series yet. So it *could* turn out to be somewhat better than that awful trailer (which doesn't even use the song! Just some probably-library music that sounds a tiny bit like it!) makes it look...
Re: Life on Mars US trailerOkay first of all 3 words some up this pile of shit
OH MY FUCKING GOD!
Ok maybe that was 4 but honestly watch this pile of shite and you'll be thinking "What were they thinking?"
They have changed what was and still is one of the best cop shows something completely original and turned it in to a pile of grade A American shit.
From right down to the people they have cast in it. To the shitty dialogue to the even worse voice over to what has to be the worst Starsky and Hutch style music. I cannot honestly believe they got the go to make this. Thank the heavens they never got hold of the rights to make Spaced!
And another thing! Where have Gene Hunt's balls gone!? Philip Glenister plays him brilliantly Colm Meaney well where do I begin?
Re: Life on Mars US trailerYet another embarrassing remake of a classic British show. Why don't they just save the money and buy the rights and show the original version? The work is already done and everyone knows that it is amazing. They can not improve on it.

Re: Life on Mars US trailerIt is true that the trailer leaves a lot to be desired. I wish I could walk up to Jason O’Mara, the actor who plays John Simms and say “What the hell are you thinking?”
I have read they are recasting some of the characters, except Jason O’Mara and also moving production to New York they are also re-filming parts of the pilot. Personally I think they need a complete makeover on the pilot. So will see how this all pans out. They do have large shoes to fill…

Re: Life on Mars US trailerJason O'Mara isnt an unknown. He's starred in several US TV series. The first one I remember seeing him in is "The Agency" which aired on CBS around 2002. |
