Heroes TV movie planned?

Ryan Lambie

The Heroes series may have breathed its last, but there’s still the possibility that Tim Kring’s creation may reappear one final time…

Published on May 19, 2010

Despite a strong first season, Tim Kring's Heroes suffered from a steady fall in popularity with each of the seasons that followed. Season one garnered an impressive audience of 14.3 million, but by the end of season three that number dropped to just 3.9 million.

NBC's decision to pull the plug on the series therefore came as little surprise, particularly considering the comparatively high budget required to make each episode.

But, according to an interview in Entertainment Weekly, actor Greg Grunberg, who played the mind reading ex-cop Matt Parkman, the "majority" of the Heroes cast has expressed an interest in creating a final two-hour TV movie.

Grunberg suggested that creator Tim Kring had "a great story in mind," and that "he was thinking in terms of six or 13 [episodes], now it would have to be two hours or four hours. But I know the network wants to. A lot of people want that wrap-up."

"So let's wrap it up and see where these characters go, and not kill them all off. Let's have some sort of a happy ending. I mean, that would be nice, wouldn't it?"

You can see the full interview over at Entertainment Weekly here.

Sure, why not? The show may have lost its direction, but a wrap-up movie could be nice.

What you mean is you want another pay day.... No offense to Greg or the other cast members but this show has stunk for the last 3 seasons. Those of us masochistic to stick with you have had enough we don't want or need a closure movie... Well unless it is just Tim Kring apologising profusely for 2 hours for ruining a great concept and 1st season before blowing his brains out....

Even thou I love(d) this show and would gladly watch a TV movie, I don't see what needs to be wrapped up. This show is not like Lost where there are a tonne of unanswered questions. Still, here is my idea for it: Peter's power changes into his father's, discovered when he takes Claire's and she is killed for good. Sylar reverts to his bad guy status so Pete has to collect the powers of all the Heroes to battle him. This of course means the rest of the cast are now done with and we can end with a kick-ass battle with Pete and Sylar that somehow kills them both. The end.

@hulk, great idea although it makes too much sense for them to consider :-(

Frankly, as long as we get to SEE - i.e. NOT JUST SEE flashes of light from behind a closed door - Peter vs. Sylar, I really don't care. I gave up on this by the time season 4 aired, and judging from the complete lack of advertising the BBC gave it, so did they.

what killed the show was not the storyline or the acting, what killed the show was putting it on NBC. They did with Heroes what they have done with all their good shows. They go against Monday Night Football and then they wonder why the ratings are hurting? duh half the nation is watching a different channel. But don't worry folks now we will get to watch more of the biggest loser, oh goody...

They should make a movie. It was good, we all know the 4th season wasnt the best but they should really finish it I mean its kind of gay that sylar turned good and peters powers sucks now and I'm pretty sure Claire turned into a lesbo but the series was good I think more people like it then they think because i was at a store buying a season and the clerk was telling me he liked the show so i hope they do finish it.
