NBC is pressing ahead with a pilot for The Cape, and it’s smartly brought Summer Glau on board…

Just when we thought that this autumn's US television line up was looking a little weak for new sci-fi and fantasy shows, NBC is pressing ahead with a pilot for a brand new superhero show, The Cape.
The show is about a framed ex-cop who is trying to clear his name, basically by becoming a superhero. But, with a firm nod of the head to Kick-Ass it seems, this particular superhero has no powers at all, and just a fancy costume to wear.
The male lead in the show is thus far unconfirmed, but it's now been revealed that Summer Glau is jumping aboard the show. She's got the role of the blogger who goes off investigating criminals and villains, and this, of course, follows her adventures in the likes of The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Dollhouse and Firefly.
The pilot of The Cape is being directed by Simon West. He's got a mixed directorial CV to date, but the fact that he helmed the immortal Con Air means that he's always welcome for a drink whenever he's in the vicinity.
We'll keep you posted, but in the meantime, here's the story at The Hollywood Reporter...
