No Doctor Who series in 2009

A fifth series of Doctor Who is confirmed - but we're going to have to wait for it...
Published on Sep 4, 2007
Appreciating work is currently afoot on a fourth series for screening in 2008 and that we’re getting a bit ahead of ourselves, this all but cements the fact that Russell T Davies and, most likely, David Tennant will be leaving the show.
Once next year’s run is over, there’s a Christmas special at the end of 2008, and then in 2009 we’ll just get three specials. These will be written by Russell T Davies, and the likelihood is that the move is to allow the new production team some space to get to grips with the show. It’ll also give Davies a big swansong, no doubt with some Scissor Sisters music in there.
Series five could well, then, see Steven Moffat inherit RTD’s job, which it’s fair to say would be the fan’s choice. But we wait and see. At the very least, as the BBC are keen to spin-it, it confirms a fifth series.

Nice to see that everyone's doing the Sopranos model of TV series these days, with unnecessary stops in mid-series. Ugh.
