Den of Geek loves ... Hayden Panettiere

Last week, we started our new Den of Geek dartboard series. This week, to balance things out, we're focusing on someone we love: Heroes' Hayden Panettiere

Anthony Enticknap

Seeing as Hayden Panettiere spends most of her time in Heroes wearing a school cheerleader’s outfit, I thought it would be fitting to say a bit about her through the medium of poetry; to be precise, the angst-ridden poetry of teenage unrequited love.

I got as far as ‘Hayden, Hayden/Beautiful maiden/Please don’t go fadin’, before I realised I couldn’t think of a legitimate reason for why she’d be ‘wadin’, and gave up. Still, I hope she appreciates the gesture.

I’m not really sure what it is about Hayden that’s so great. Is it the fact that her initials make me think of inkjet printers and brown sauce? Possibly, though I’m more of a ketchup man. Is it the fact that she’s small (5’ 1”), cute and blonde? That seems fairly likely, but I generally prefer brunettes. Or is it the cheerleader thing? Almost definitely.

But on top of being very easy on the eye, she’s also a pretty good actress. It’s fairly safe to say I’ve never seen anyone portray a regenerating, superhuman cheerleader quite as well as she does.

Looking at her filmography on IMDb, she’s done quite a lot, considering her tender age. I’m not familiar with the majority of the titles, but she’s certainly been busy. She’s been in Malcom In The Middle, Ally McBeal, and Racing Stripes. She’s also lent her voice to several videogames and animated movies.

And her future? IMDb lists one movie in post-production, entitled Fireflies In The Garden. It stars the infinitely annoying Julia Roberts, but I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt. After that, I guess there’s more series of Heroes to come.

Sadly, I doubt she’d be interested in my idea for a Showgirls sequel.
