Doctor Who: the return of Peter Davison!
Simon Brew
The latest off the Doctor Who rumour mill, and it seems that Peter Davison is stepping back into the TARDIS...
Published on Aug 22, 2007
The point of this ramble is that it's now being reported that Peter Davison has been lured back to the TARDIS for a one-off special, believed to be for the BBC's Children in Need television bore-a-thon (although all in a good cause).
The rumours had started, bizarrely, through a conversation between Sylvester McCoy and Peter Jackson (yes, that Peter Jackson), with the former revealing the a double Doctor story was being planned for the fourth season of the new Doctor Who.
Since then, it's all but been confirmed that Davison is coming back, but it doesn't seem to be in a full episode. And it's not the first time Doctor Who has done Children In Need either - in the past, the charity appeal has put the likes of Hugh Grant, Richard E Grant, Rowan Atkinson and Joanna Lumley into the shoes of the Doctor.
We quite like the idea of a dual Doctor episode - even though history hasn't really been kind to previous attempts - so fingers crossed that Davison makes it into an episode of the series proper.

This could be great - then does anyone remember the horrific Dr Who and Eastenders in 3D a few years back.. seeing Pat Butcher getting chased by a Cyberman is just something that nobody should ever have to endure. They could of course follow this up with a three doctor episode... I hear that Colin Baker has some time free in his schedule at the moment :-)

Davison was the beginning of a casting decline in Dr.Who, and in fact I have no doubt that they could pull off a sequel to the 'Five Doctors' story - 'The Crap Doctors' - Davison, C.Baker and McCoy, with Paul McGann serving the tea.
Only the return of Tom Baker is worth doing.

David Tennant and Peter Davison in the same episode? We'll have some of that...
