Lost: the mysterious poster for the final season

Even when Lost puts out a poster, we find ourselves having to speculate about it…

You have to say that the people at Lost have this sort of thing down to a fine art now. Most people release a poster, it looks pretty, and that's just about that. In the case of Lost, they release a poster and we end up talking about a very specific feature of it.
This is the promo sheet for the forthcoming final season of the show, which kicks off in January. At first glance, it has a ‘gang's all here' feel to it, with pretty much every key character from the show turning up in the line at the top there.
Only they're not all there, are they? There's no Penny, for starters. There's no Walt. And there's no Charles Widmore. When you factor in that even the dog has made the poster, then you have to wonder whether we're supposed to read something into those omissions.
Plus, there's more. Take a look at the picture more closely, and you'll see that John Locke's back is turned to face us, whereas every one else is looking at us straight on.
They couldn't just put something out saying "Lost: Back Next Year", could they?
