BBC unveils new Doctor Who logo
Simon Brew
It’s a change of identity for Doctor Who, as the show’s brand new logo is unveiled…
Published on Oct 6, 2009
In the spirit of everything changes, the BBC has revealed the brand new logo for Doctor Who, that will be the eleventh that the show has enjoyed. That, of course, neatly ties into the fact that it'll be appearing before the adventures of the eleventh Doctor, Matt Smith, who will be in change of the Tardis for the currently filming fifth series of the show. Should we assume that the same logo will precede one or two of the remaining three special episodes that we're getting this year, too?
Here's video of the logos that came before:

Yeah, I love the DW TARDIS :c) but the compulsive in me hates the rest as it makes it look uncentered. :cP
I suppose I'll get over it. :cD

Looks shite. The Tardis bit just looks like a candle!

Erm ... that looks rubbish. Not a knee-jerk 'it's new so it must be crap!' reaction, just ... it's not aesthetically pleasing, you know? And it seems quite a departure from the old ones ... ah well, surely Moffatt and new Doctor (and sexy new companion :D) will make it worthwhile!

Funny, I like the letters but I'm not sure about the TARDIS bit!
Sure I'll get used to it though.

Not at all sure about.... My feelings are similar to Geekette's its lopsided/ out of balance and that just pees me off!
I would far rather they split it in 2 and used he separate bits independently.
That said it might grown on me... some of the others did.

You said my thoughts better than I did, cordas! :cD It looks unbalanced. On studying it (sure, what do I have better to do on a Tuesday morning, right?) I think it's mostly the BBC bit that's wrecking the balance. The designer probably had it just right... then 'BBC' got plastered onto the bottom. :cP

Agree it looks unbalanced. Also seems a bit too old fashioned, to me. The "lozenge" logo was at least moving the show onward in that it was something new. This just seems like a pointless harking back to the Pertwee/'96 movie logo.

Its not unbalanced surely.
Isn't it two logos in one picture, ie they'll either use the Dr Who OR the Tardis bit, not both at the same time???

Makes me wonder what focus group they're using. Very cold and unexciting.
The fire and smoke logo seemed more "out there" and edgy.

Ive just saved it as my laptop wallpaper and it makes it look much better. Im guessing they will use the Tardis logo for promos and the full wording for the series - mind im guessing under the principle that BBC like to have BBC stamped on every show they broadcast, and its under the wording - I think its in case you forget what channel youre on.

Davros is correct, it's two logos shown in the same picture.

Wait till we see it's main context: where it's living and breathing in the title sequence

Not too sure. One looks bland the other looks a bit...odd. I'm sure they will grow on me, like the others did.

I dig it. Looks very sleek and attractive. And even if I hated it it still wouldn't keep me from watching what Moffat's gonna do with this show. Can't wait.

Its definatley not as striking as the previous one but then again that suited the animation it had. Cant really decide on this new until i see the animation it has. Not in love with the colours displayed in this picture but i'm hoping its becuase its dimming high then low in beat to the light on top of the tardis DW...?
