My Name Is Earl definitely dead

Plans by cable network to revive My Name Is Earl have come to nothing, it’s been confirmed…

Published on Jun 12, 2009

Earlier this week, we reported the cable TV network TBS was in negotiations to potentially offer the recently-cancelled show My Name Is Earl a lifeline. It's not too often that a cable network manages to resurrect a show like this, although Comedy Central has just managed to bring Futurama back to life. But that, as fans of Arrested Development will be able to tell you, is the exception rather than the rule.

And the rule has sadly applied to My Name Is Earl, too. After negotiations and discussions took place, The Hollywood Reporter is this morning reporting that 20th Century Fox and the show's creator, Greg Garcia, couldn't find a way for the show to carry on with the much smaller budget that TBS would be able to stump up.

The final statement on the matter from 20th Century Fox also seems to leave little room for this to change in the future. "As none of us, Greg included, want the show to go out on anything but a high note, we regret that we must put to rest any speculation that 'Earl' will continue," it reads.

And that, ladies and gents, sadly appears to be that...

Hell, I'd accept a TVMovie to give it the end it deserves.

Have just heard that next weeks 3 episodes of my name is earl on e4 are the last ever. I'm gutted as love the series it's funny and all the characters are likeable in their own weird way.
