My Name Is Earl gets a reprieve?

Could cable television raise My Name Is Earl from the television grave?
Published on Jun 9, 2009
It was sad but not unexpected news when NBC pulled the plug on comedy hit My Name Is Earl a few weeks back. And it was feared that that was that, given the cost of making the show, and the fact that the actors weren't tied in to making any more episodes.
Yet there may yet be a reprieve. According to The Hollywood Reporter, talks are underway with cable network TBS about a new 13-episode series of the show, which would press ahead should all deals fall into place.
That's no small feat, though, given that Fox currently holds the rights, and that budget cuts would be required to make it on a cable network budget. There's also the fact that deals have to be reached with all of the talent concerned.
However, it's an olive branch to fans of the show, and here's hoping that a suitable deal can be inked.
