24: season eight to be “realistic”

Kiefer Sutherland also reveals that past seasons of 24 have been “far-fetched”. Surely not…
Published on May 14, 2009
Even as the seventh season of 24 draws to a close on our screens in the weeks ahead, work is already afoot on season eight, which is set to go before the cameras in the near future.
And according to Kiefer Sutherland, things are going to get a lot more down to earth next year. We don't believe him, of course, and in true 24 fashion we expect all good intentions to be out the window within eight episodes, but nonetheless, he's said that the new season will be more in touch with the world.
According to a Reuters report, Sutherland says, "I can tell you that it's grounded in a political shift that's taking place in the world, that I actually think is probably the most realistic thing we've ever done," before going on to add, "It's going to be centred in one of the most realistic circumstances, because some of our stuff -- let's be fair -- has been kind of far-fetched. But this one I think is quite possible, so I'm very excited about that."
Rumours persist that season eight will be the last for 24, although nobody is confirming that one way or the other.
In the meantime, though, here's the Yahoo write up of the Reuters story.
