Heroes: season three starts September

Heroes has had quite a bumpy road over the last year or so, after the initial bucketload of acclaim it picked up. An underwhelming end to season one and a meandering, ultimately cut short second season (which finally gets its UK bow on BBC Two at the end of this month) has put the pressure firmly on for a full-on return to form with season three.

So here's what we know thus far. Season three kicks off in the States in September with a double premiere episode. It'll be 20 episodes in length in all, albeit shown in two chunks, with the second half of the series running in February 2009. Each chunk will consist of ten episodes.

More news is expected over the next month or two as production is ramped up. But as many speculated at the time, Heroes could well be the show that the writers' strike actually ended up helping...
