Doctor Who Filming - Back To The Quarry

Cameron K McEwan

The Who crew return to the UK with filming taking place in the dead of night in a more conventional area.

Published on Feb 24, 2009

Filming on the Doctor Who specials continued last night in the show's most familiar location - a quarry.

After a week in the unusual surroundings of Dubai, the producers returned to Wales using a quarry in Taffs Well, just north of the capital. Spotted on set was the TARDIS and a multi~terrain loader engulfed by flames.

It is suspected that this filming is the second of this year's specials, though this is unconfirmed at present. Last week the BBC announced that Lindsay Duncan would be appearing in the second special as Adelaide - "the Doctor's cleverest and most strong-minded companion yet."

So far only the first special has a broadcast date, "Spring 2009" but it is believed that the rest will feature in the second half of the year with the last, featuring Tennant's regeneration into Matt Smith, in 2010.

And still no sign of Professor Riversong! I really had hoped (and expected!) a reprise at some point.

This wont be for the second special as that's only just had a read through and production proper wont start until the Spring. http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2009/02_february/19/who.shtml
