24: Redemption: pictures and first review

Simon Brew

Jack Bauer is back next month, and some people have already seen it...

Published on Oct 24, 2008

It’s been a long time since we had the chance to enjoy all-new 24, as not since the tepid season six ended around eighteen months ago have we seen anything new at all where Jack Bauer is concerned.

However, spanning the gap between season six and January’s season seven is the eagerly-awaited two hour television movie, 24: Redemption, which is set to be screened in a few weeks’ time. The movie follows Jack to Africa, and we’re guessing that his hunt for redemption forms part of the plot. Robert Carlyle is co-starring.

Fox has screened the movie for the first time in the States, too, resulting in a few reviews appearing across the web. By far the most positive is iF Magazine’s, which reports that “it retains all the things 24 fans love from double-crossings to high tension”. IGN’s review is a little more tempered, but still positive, arguing that “it's hard to say if Redemption marks a big return to form … because it's not truly the next season. It certainly gets things off to a promising start though”

While you’re here, we’ve also got a few 24: Redemption images down there in the bottom right, that you can enlarge by clicking on the thumbnails.

Roll on the end of November, then…

The iF review is here.
