Doctor Who: has the next Doctor been chosen?
A breaking rumour has identified the man who may be replacing David Tennant in 2011.
A major rumour is emerging about the future of Doctor Who, and more specifically who will be replacing David Tennant in the Tardis.
With Tenant – as we reported earlier this week – likely to stick around now until 2010’s fifth series, it seems that a change will be taking place in time for 2011’s series 6.
And the name that’s now circulating as the next occupier of the famous blue box?
Paterson Joseph.
Joseph has already appeared in Doctor Who before, in the season one concluding two-parter Bad Wolf/Parting of the WAys (he played Roderick). He’s also appeared in Peep Show and Green Wing, and most significantly of all, Jekyll.
Jekyll, of course, was the last programme to be overseen by a certain Mr Steven Moffat, who takes up the reigns on Doctor Who from its fifth season onwards.
This information has been broken by the excellent, and reliable, Comic Book Resources site, and you can read their full story here.
UPDATE:
Paterson Joseph's agent denies the rumour to us, claiming that this was the first they'd heard about it. "If Paterson had the part, it would have come through us, so I think that's a no..."

Re: Doctor Who: has the next Doctor been chosen?Didn't this rumour actually start on Den of Geek just before the last episode was aired? Actually, it may have been someone's wish list rather than a rumour at that stage...
Re: Doctor Who: has the next Doctor been chosen? This sounds very simillar to the rumour that colin salmon was going to play Bond...
Re: Doctor Who: has the next Doctor been chosen?God I do hope this is not true & purely for the reason that the actor is black!
And before that starts a ton of "I'm Racist" rows I'm not but the Dr is, always has been & should always be white just as Bond should always be played by a dark haired tall chap (yeah see the cock up now they have cast Craggy Craig)
Plus the Doctor can't wonder all over time & space being black, just wouldn't fit in with a lot of earth history.
The Dr is white. The Dr is male. Pah!
Re: Doctor Who: has the next Doctor been chosen?Gosh - I have to say that I have always thought Paterson Joseph would make an amazing Doctor, ever since I first saw him in BBC2's "Neverwhere".
And speaking of the Doctor changing 'colour' didn't fellow Time Lady Romana try out a blue skinned body in 'Destiny of the Daleks'? when she was regenerating? I have no issue with this - sex change yes(!), but skin colour is so not relevant in these more educated times.
I am a white male and only mention this as it seems relevant, as this discussion is touching on issues of race.
Re: Doctor Who: has the next Doctor been chosen?Yeah Hey,
I Think A Black Doctor Who Would Own !!! That And The Problem I Have With Alot TV Lately Is In Attempt Not To Appear Racist ( To Make Up For Fucking Serious Racism That We Had To Put Up With In The 50's, 60's And 70's On TV Which Was Some Worse Insulting Shit You Would Ever See In Your Life And I'm White ) They Put Alot What People Call " Token " Black Characters In To Make Up There Mistakes ( It Was More Than A Mistake, It Was Serious National Crisis !). The Problem With That Is Alot Times It Was The Only Black Guy On TV So Became Noticable What It Is They Were Doing ( ... Nee Mickey Or Donna's Fianance ) ! When Martha Was Put On The Show Made Things Much More Better Because They Also Started To Bring In Her Family And They Made Black People Alot More Prominent This Time So That Wasn't Noticable What They Were Doing ! Then They Drop Off ! Putting Black Doctor On TV Would Be Too Perfect As For Me It Would Make Up For All Those Token Black Characters On Show, Which In Some Ways You Think About Is As Almost Bad As The Other Extreme, Because Both Ways It's Still Demeaning Dude !
Re: Doctor Who: has the next Doctor been chosen?I'm a white man and would love to see Paterson Joseph as the doctor because remember he chances every atom in his body so no reason why he couldn't be a black man after regenerating. It would be wrong if he suddenly turned into a woman though as he is a male.
Paterson Joseph or Russell Brand for me
