Doctor Who: Patrick Stewart, and series 5 rumours
Simon Brew
What classic monsters could be coming back to Doctor Who? And is Patrick Stewart really getting involved?
Published on Sep 30, 2008
Some fascinating future Doctor Who whisperings have emerged over at the Planet Gallifrey blog, and they’re the kind of rumours that we just hope prove to be true.
The first, and best, is that Patrick Stewart has expressed an interest in appearing in the fifth season of Doctor Who or one of the 2009 specials. Stewart, who is currently appearing on stage with David Tennant in Hamlet, could even be cast into the role of the Meddling Monk. It’s be fascinating if true. The Meddling Monk was played by Carry On-regular Peter Butterworth in the William Hartnell adventure The Time Meddler (that we reviewed here, and was the first Time Lord that the Doctor encountered in the show.
That, therefore, opens up the recurring question as to how many Time Lords remain after all, although given this is all very much rumour at this stage, it’s probably best to curtail our excitement for a moment.
Planet Gallifrey also rounds up some rumours that season five will see the return of the Zygons and the Ice Warriors, while there’s also speculation that the next series will kick off with a Dalek two-parter (which we’d doubt, to be fair).
Here’s the post, which makes for interesting reading…
