Two new international posters arrive for Thor
Beards and glowering eyes abound in the new pair of international posters to arrive for Marvel’s forthcoming Thor...
The mighty Thor movie will be bringing its hammer down in UK cinemas next month and, gearing up for the final marketing push, Marvel has unleashed a brace of suitably moody posters to get us all excited about the film.
Interesting and useful fact: the beard-to-actor ratio of these posters is a startling 60 percent, with only Natalie Portman and Tom Hiddleston sporting clean shaven, shiny chins.
Each character’s beard is also colour coded, so you can tell exactly who they belong to at a glance. We have Idris Elba sporting a natty gold helmet and neatly trimmed black beard as Heimdall, Anthony Hopkins lurking behind a shaggy white beard as Odin, and of course, Chris Hemsworth dominating the landscape as Thor himself, with his luxuriant beard of pure gold.
To put the beard ratio into perspective, the Coen brothers only managed to get 50 percent of their actors to grow chin fungus for the international poster of True Grit. Jeff Bridges and Josh Brolin gamely cultivated generous quantities of facial hair, but Hailee Steinfeld let the side down, and Matt Damon only managed to squeeze out a pitiful droopy moustache.
Could this be a sign that Thor will be 10 percent better than True Grit? Only time will tell.
Thor opens in the UK on 27 April.
